Laboratory of Network Security Training Centre ' Informzaschita ', together with specialists from the Department of Design and Consulting NPC ' Informzaschita ' held a regular survey of wireless networks in Moscow. At this time, the boundaries of collecting information limited to the Garden Ring. The works were carried out in the middle of the day. In the survey there were about 700 access points, revealed that the most common devices were stardarta 802. 11g ( more than 61 %).
It was identified 42 equipment manufacturers, the most commonly used brands - D-Link ( 16 %), Nortel ( 16%) and Cisco ( 10%, including Linksys).
Compared with previous surveys, there was a growing number of devices that support WPA and WPA2 ( up to 8 and 2% respectively ). If the previous surveys did not exceed 8%, now amounts to more than 10% of all units. The number of devices using WEP is still quite large - 31%. However, the most common is to use the device without encryption (59%).
