Scientists have developed a program to translate dog barks

151775A group of scientists from the University of Eötvös Loránd in Hungary, claims that she was able to develop a computer program to translate dog barks.

Researchers led by Csaba Molnar analyzed with the help of its development more than 6000 entries from 14 Hungarian sheepdogs barking, which they publish in six different situations, says The Daily Mail.

Through a series of experiments, the researchers found that the computer is able to discern what the dog reacts: the stranger, in a fight, walk, alone, on a ball or a game. Lai recorded on tape and then transferred to digital format. The computer with the program studied the differences in the records.

In 43 % of the computer is able to correctly recognize the situation. Although it is not very high, it is much better than the recognition of human speech, researchers say. Particularly successful computer determined the situation with the ' fight ' and ' stranger ', and worst of all the barking learned during the ' game'.

Results of the study appeared in the journal Animal Cognition. Scientists believe that, depending on the emotional state of his dog barking sounds differently. In addition, researchers conducted a second test, during which the computer must have known a particular dog by its bark.

The program correctly identified the dog in 52%, again much better than when working with people. This leads to believe that there are individual differences between the barks of different animals, even if people are not able to distinguish between them. Now a research team intends to compare the barking dogs of various breeds to determine their general characteristics.
